True, Alvin E. "Kip" (1844 � 1949)

A veteran of the Civil War, and one of the first pioneers of the Nepesta area, A. E. True arrived ahead of the railroad, in 1872. He homesteaded land near the �Rio Nepesta� River. He married Eliza C. Aldred 14 March1880.
Indians were a common sight along the river bottom, and were often camped on True�s land. True stated in his memoirs, he once witnessed an Indian scalp dance, watching from a treetop.
He and his wife, Eliza are buried together in Nepesta Cemetery, Nepesta, Pueblo County, Colorado. There is a marker on their grave.
