Rocky Mountain News 4-6-1897 - Early Appointments - Other appointments (for state political offices) of the day were: State Board of Agriculture - P. F. Sharp, Pueblo, succeeds A. L. Emigh, who has been on the board since 1889...  Phinny F. Sharp, appointed a member of the state board of agriculture, was born in Portage, Ohio, on October 11, 1832, from which place he went to the coal regions of Indiana, and located in Brazil in that state at the age of 19.  Mr. Sharp came to Colorado in 1881, settling in Pueblo, where he was engaged in merchandise, real estate and other enterprises, until three years ago, when he organized the Toltec Coal company, of which he is president, removing to Denver.  Mr. Sharp was mayor of South Pueblo in 1885, when that city was consolidated with Pueblo.  His first wife died in Pueblo in 1884, and on July 1, 1895, he was married again to Miss Mollie J. Irion of Washington County, Ohio.
