Pueblo County, Colorado
Moore, Jack S. (1835 - 1927)

Contributed by Jean Griesan.

John "Jackie" Steuben Moore came west for the adventure, early in 1860.  He found it with the famed Pony Express.  He rode from St. Joseph, Missouri, and stayed with the Pony Express during its short history.  He later settled in the Arkansas Valley area of Colorado.  It is said he was the first white settler in this area.  He drove a stage and ran a small cattle ranch, located a mile north of Fowler.  He remained in the area until his death, in 1927, at age ninety-two.

He is buried in an unmarked grave in Nepesta Cemetery, Pueblo County, Colorado.
