Richens L. Wooten
From "Bent's Fort" by David Lavender: Wooton was born about 1816. Was raised and fairly well educated on plantations in Virginia and Mississippi.
From "Colorado, South of the Border", by Ralph Taylor: Wooton came to Colorado in December 1858. His ranch was 9 miles north of Pueblo, and he had a house in Pueblo and one of the first stores. He died at age 77, which would make that around 1893. There might possibly be a death certificate in Pueblo County. He had a ranch on the Huerfano and St. Charles River with Joseph B. Doyle.
From "Lady of Taos" by Richard Luna. Wooton's first wife was Dolores LeFebre, daughter of Manuel LeFebre. She died on March 6, 1855 at the birth of her 4th child. (I don't think it was her 4th child) Children of Wooton and Dolores: Eliza (age 5 at mother's death) Richens (age 4 at mother's death) Frances (age 2 at mother's death) The children were sent to live with their grandparents in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Wife #2 was Mary Ann Manning, a widow.
