He was born on August 21, 1946 to Ben and Arla Qualls in Wheatland, WY. Jerry attended school in Northplatte, NE. He received his diploma while in Charleston, WV, and continued his education through Iowa Valley Community College and throughout his life. He was married to Jacqueline Rae Luellman in 1969 in Omaha, NE. Jerry worked for Paramount Paper, GT Barber Pharmacy and Watkins Concrete as a driver. He also worked on a farm in Boone, Iowa, then moved to Brooklyn, Iowa to work in a lumber yard. His next move was to Grinwell, Iowa where he worked at a glass company and lumber yard as a driver. Jerry worked for 14 years at Wolverine/CertainTeed Corporation and finally moved to Trinidad in 1999. While in Trinidad, he worked for Northwestern Logistics as a driver, Scott Canda as a driver, and on Bud Healey's ranch. He was an all-around handy man. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. He was a kind, loving family man. His hobbies included carpentry, electronics and computers. He was preceded in death by his father and step-father, Clive Miller. Quick, proprietor of a Pueblo livery stable, committed suicide on the morning of December 27th by shooting himself through the head. Quick, Lillian Lillian Quick - Haxtun Harvest (Haxtun, Colorado) - September 16, 1926 - The remains of Mrs. Lillian Quick, who died at the Colorado State Hospital at Pueblo September 11, arrived in Haxtun Tuesday. Mrs. Quick was 44 years, 2 months and 4 days of age. Mrs. Quick was the wife of W. H. Quick of Haxtun and had been in poor health for some time. The husband and several children survive. Quick passed away Nov. 3, 1999, in Pueblo. Neil was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Buffalo, Mo., and had been a longtime Westcliffe and Pueblo resident. Neil was a decorated World War II hero having served in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Silver Star among many other honors. He was a member of the 157th Infantry Thunderbird Association, the 45th Division Association, V.F.W. Post No. 1321 as well as Elks Lodge No. 90. Neil was employed at PDA for many years and retired as a nuclear weapons advisor from the Joliet Arsenal Facility in Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ines Jeske Quick; brothers, Ralph, Tom and Lyman; and sisters, Eva and Margaret. She was born June 2, 1911, in Greensburg, Kan., the oldest daughter of Dr. Elza M. Carter and Jessie B. (Barker) Carter. She received training to be a secretary in Tucson, Ariz. She enjoyed painting and studied art in New York City. She married Harry John Quigle, Aug. 20, 1949, in Raton, N.M. He passed away Jan. 19, 1985. She had many interests and hobbies, crocheting, knitting, sewing, doing crafts, gardening, tending to her beautiful flowers, and collecting plates were but a few. Quigley Pueblo Colorado Weekly Chieftain February 5, 1880 The Chieftain regrets to chronicle the death of Mr. Michael J. Quigley, for three years past one of South Pueblo's honored and most enterprising citizens. His sad demise is attributed to a severe attack of pneumonia which has confined him to his room during the last four days. Mr. Quigley was formerly a resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, but the new west offering superior inducements, a pleasant home and life long friends were abandoned and his fortunes cast upon the tide of western civilization. Since his residence on the south side by affability and honorable dealings in all transactions many warm friends and acquaintances were won, who will learn with profound sorrow of his sudden death. Quine, Welling Welling Quine - Walsenburg World-Independent - February 11, 1946 - Welling Quine Drowns In Louisiana Lake - Welling Quine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Quine who lived on the upper Huerfano, was drowned in Lake Charles, La., Saturday, information gathered by the World-Independent revealed today. According to available information, he fell overboard into the lake while working on a tugboat during a storm. His body had not been recovered before press time today. An employee of the Stevens Company, he was working with a crew on the tug at the time. According to reports, Saturday was to have been his last day at work after which he was planning to return here on a visit. Quinlan, Robert Robert "Shane" Quinlan - Colorado Springs Gazette - February 8, 2002 - Shane, son, brother, husband and friend passed away February 3, 2002 near Rainbow Falls, Colorado. He was born on October 2, 1972 in Pueblo, Colorado to Robert Van and Christine (Carman) Quinlan, who are surviving. Shane served in the United States Air Force for six and a half years and spent four and a half years in the Colorado Air National Guard. He was a full-time student at the University of Colorado School of Dental Hygiene in Denver. Quintana, Bernice Bernice Quintana - Huerfano World - July 1, 1993 - Bernice Quintana, 81, died at her home in LaGarita June 23, 1993 after a brief illness. Born June 4, 1912 in Franktown, she attended school there. She married Fred Quintana Nov. 7, 1936 and they farmed until he entered the Navy in 1943. Mrs. Quintana worked in the shipyards in California during World War II. In 1950, she went to work for Dana Corporation in Pueblo, retiring in 1975. In 1981, the couple moved to Center. He died in April, 1993. Survivors include her sons, William Carlson, Center and Leonard Carlson, Phoenix, AZ; a brother Francis "Bud" Wheeler and two sisters, Doris Johnston, Castle Rock and Laura Acru, Franktown; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Quintana, Eduardo E. Eduardo E. Quintana - Pueblo Chieftain - July 18, 2004 - Eduardo E. Quintana, 97. On July 14, 2004, as the rain fell, the sky opened and welcomed Eduardo E. Quintana to his heavenly Father and family. Born Sept. 2, 1906, to Bibian and Cleofitas (Ribera de) Quintana in Las Vegas, N.M. He married Jesucita Gutierrez at Our Lady of Sorrows in Las Vegas, N.M., on June 26, 1939. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage and devotion. They lived in New Mexico on the family ranch until the early 1950s when they moved to Pueblo. He was employed and retired from the American Packing House in 1972. Mr. Quintana took great pride in every family member, from their educational accomplishments to competitive achievements. Prior to his brief illness he enjoyed gardening, visiting with extended family members, telling stories of cattle drives and covered wagons. He enjoyed calling his brother, Jose L. Quintana; and his sister, Rita Archuleta, on the telephone. He passed on his passion for ranching to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All those who desired to ride horseback were encouraged. Those who could help with cattle roundups and branding, did from the time they could wear cowboy hats and wear boots. Dad was an original cowboy. Mrs. Erlinda C. Quintana - Pueblo Chieftain - June 27, 2002 - Mrs. Erlinda C. Quintana went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2002, after a hard fought battle with diabetes. Lindy, as she was affectionately known, was born to Consuelo and Ezekiel Esquibel on March 27, 1936. Linda grew up in Salt Creek and was blessed with a baby girl whom she named "Loraine," the name which she proudly bears on her left forearm. A few years went by and Linda suffered great grief, as her toddler died from a childhood illness. Linda fell in love with and married Richard "Jim" Quintana and began her quest to have 12 children. Linda and Jim moved into a home on the East Side, and together raised six more children. Linda tried to manage her disease and was presented with a Certificate of Achievement for Successful Wound Care Management; she continued her activities with the Mother's Club of Salt Creek, and "The Clue." Linda enjoyed watching "spooky movies" and loved her many "gatos and pedos"; Linda was blessed when her brother Benjie moved from California into the family home; he assisted her with everything, she emotionally called him "My Rock." She was quite comfortable with her housekeeper and friend Kelly, whom she loved to watch "her stories" with every other day. Of recent, she made a new friend in Dorothy Salas, who assisted her while she was hospitalized in Denver as well as at her family home, of which Linda was most grateful. However, the pride and joy of her life seemed to be her grandchildren: Her firstborn grandson, Scott "Scottson" and his wife Barbara, Carmel "Carmelito" and his wife Antoinette, Tammi "CheChella" and her husband Sal, Renae, Doug and his wife Erika, Bobby "Roberto," Kirk "Kirkie" and his wife Audrey, Kevin "Kevito" and his wife Miranda, Brittany, Dreena and her husband Pat, Sarah "Sarita," Lindsey "Lindsey-McKinzey" (her namesake), Colin "Collins," and the grandchild she waited 40 years for, who shares her love for kitty-cats, Rexie "Scooter Bear." Linda watched as her grandchildren became parents and gave her great-great-grandchildren, she loved them all, unconditionally. "JB" Quintana Pueblo Chieftain October 5, 2006 - John B. "JB" Quintana, 78, of Pueblo, Colo., returned to his creator on Oct. 2, 2006, after a lengthy illness in Denver, Colo. JB was born on Sept. 24, 1928, to the union of Guadalupe (Dominguez) and Andres Quintana, and was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ben, Chris and Jimmy Ray; his beloved grandparents, Rita (Garcia) and Benigno Quintana; and in-laws, Joe Ben and Victoria Padilla, Jimmy Padilla, Nancy Aragon and Julia Gonzales. JB leaves to treasure his life his wife of 57 years, Nora; his seven children, Dianne (Don) Benavidez, Gary (Rose), Lupe, Del (Julie), Ron (Pauline), Fred and Gerald; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. After moving to La Junta as a child, John attended La Junta schools and worked at the Santa Fe Ice Plant and at the Pueblo Army Depot, retiring after 30 years of service. Following family tradition, JB had a lifelong passion for music, playing with his band (the John Quintana Band) and later playing with his sons at various functions. Although a legend in entertainment, JB was a very private person who cherished and enjoyed quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren, who were his life. He played music and sang with all of his family, and especially enjoyed family gatherings, working on cars, his beloved Chevy's, and rebuilding bicycles for children. His voice was distinctly recognizable on "Swap-Shop" with his "4346." John and Nora moved to Pueblo, Colo., in 2002 to be with their children and grandchildren. JB spent his last days with his wife and family by his side. He passed on to Our Lord after saying his rosary in the arms of his beloved wife, Nora. Celestino was an elder of the congregation at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed working in the garden, listening to music, watching TV, driving in his car and preaching. Quirico, Daniel Robert Daniel Robert Quirico - Pueblo Chieftain - November 12, 2006 - Daniel Robert Quirico, 73, of Las Cruces, N.M., and previously a longtime resident of the St. Charles Mesa, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 8, 2006, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Pueblo, Colo., on Sept. 1, 1933, to Dan and Jennie Quirico. Daniel accomplished many things in his lifetime. He was involved in produce his entire life, a retired teacher, cattle rancher, truck driver and truck and produce broker. One of his favorite annual events was The Pumpkin Patch, that he started 17 years ago, that has been in the Mesilla Valley Mall for the last several years. Daniel had several friends who he loved who became family to him. Among those were Aurelio Alvarez, Fred Horner, Gene Killam, Bud Deerman, Dave Melton, and others, too numerous to name. Daniel was involved in numerous activities, including the New Mexico Vintage Iron, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Lion's Club, numerous classic car and antique tractor shows and president of "The Coffee Club." Daniel also attended the First Church of the Nazarene. Preceded by wife, Delores Quisenberry; parents, Lloyd and Mabel; and brother, Paul Quisenberry. Survived by children, Mary Jane (William) Shepard, Paula (Dennis) Katon and Lee (Terry) Quisenberry Jr. Also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
