Pueblo Children's Home – Started before 1900 (at the same address as McClelland in later years) Contributed by the Pueblo County Volunteers. From Fifth Biennial Report of the State Board of Charities and Corrections For the Biennial Period Ending November 30, 1900, by Colorado State Board of Charities and Corrections, published by The Smith-Brooks Printing Co., Denver, Colorado, 1901: The Pueblo Children's Home – Located in Pueblo, in a two-story and basement brick building, set in grounds of good dimensions. Mrs. Gray, superintendent. This is the out-growth of Mrs. Gray's individual efforts, and is now under the support of the Associated Charities of Pueblo, assisted by funds from private sources and from parents, guardians and friends of children. From this orphanage over 130 children have been placed in homes in a period of eight years, mostly in Pueblo county. The population averages fifty. The same complaint of indifference of guardians and parents and lack of support occurs here as at other children's homes.
