The Taos board of County Commissioners on 24 January 1934 officially declared the Village of Taos a Corporate Entity.The people had requested to incorporate because some major fires had destroyed large parts of the historic plaza and they felt that they needed a central government to provide a water and sewer system,As well as Fire and Police protection.
