James B. Dick, Sr. was born in Cowdenbeth, Scotland October 4, 1859, and educated in the public schools of Scotland. He married Janet Robertson (deceased) in 1882 in Walsenburg, Colorado leaving son James B. Dick Jr. who married Katherine Barnes, one daughter Audrey. He married Mandilena (Victoria) in 1898 in Walsenburg. Their son is George B. who married Pearl Phipps and they have four daughters, the eldest a student at Stephens College at Columbia, Mo.
Mr. Dick spent 1879-1881 coal mining in Penn., Ohio. From that time until his death in 1839 he developed his coal mining interests in the vicinity of Walsenburg. Was mayor of Walsenburg for 11 years. Past President and past Vice-President of First National Bank. He was a member of A.F. &A.M. Consistory No.3 of Scottish Right Masons of Pueblo Alkaly Shrine. He was a Protestant. A Republican. His hobby was fishing. His home is at 303 W. 3rd where his widow still resides. Huajatolla Chapter D.A.R.
