Noriega, Ricardo E.
Ricardo E. "Dick" Noriega - Pueblo Chieftain - August 07, 2001 - Age 67. My husband, our father continued his journey of life into the Lord's care on Aug. 6, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer. He will join his brother, Willie Vigil, and sister, Mary Gallardo, who have already been entrusted to the care of our Lord Jesus Christ. His loving and caring wife of 42 years, Orlinda Noriega of Pueblo, will continue on this earth to be Ricardo's symbol of everlasting love. Fred Noriega of Alamosa is the last of four siblings born to Fiedel and Emma "Manuelita" Noriega. Mr. Noriega also leaves his four children, Peggy (Darron) Meyers, Shvone (Jim) Griffe, Dave Noriega and Rich (Marce) Noriega to follow in his footsteps. For the past 18 years, Mr. and Mrs. Noriega raised their grandson, Jeffrey Noriega, as their own. The children who knew him as Pampo are Jenelle (Louie Perez), Stephanie Montoya, Ray Noriega, Adriana Herrera, Miquaid and Trenton Meyers, Jessica Noriega and Selemah Griffe. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and special friends to remember him. Ricardo was a caring and giving man who always worked hard to provide for his family above all else. He found it hard to say no to anyone in need, a man with a big heart. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-57, where he served at the Panama Canal. For 24 years, he was employed at Rockwool Industries before spending another few years employed at the Colorado State Hospital. In his early years after coming to Pueblo from the San Luis Valley, Ricardo was an accomplished baseball and softball pitcher who had his way of riddling the best hitters Pueblo had to offer with his wicked curve ball. He loved his Rockies, Broncos, CU Buffaloes and favorite fishing places. We will all miss you "Yo Papa." Have a great journey home and we will see you when we get there. Cremation by his request. Donations in his name to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, who provided him and his loved ones with the utmost support and respect in their greatest time of need. Also a special thanks to Dr. Pranay Bahuguna for being not only a true professional doctor, but more importantly a wonderful, caring person. Memorial Mass of the Catholic faith will be held on Aug. 8, 2001, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Blende with the Rev. Robert Carden presiding, with military honors presented by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. The family will receive friends at his home, 2113 W. 13th St., Pueblo, Colo. A dinner in his honor will be held immediately after the service at St. Joseph's Hall.
